What is a garden coach ?
The goal of a garden coach is to teach you how to garden, or increase your knowledge on various aspects of gardening and plants. Even if you are not doing the work yourself, it is helpful to have enough knowledge to choose the right gardener to and oversee the work being done in your garden.
Whether you want me to work directly with you or your existing gardener, I will help create a space that you enjoy!

Foundation Consultation onsite
The Foundation Consultation is generally a great place to start.
During this consultation, I will up to half a day with you in your home and garden. We will discuss your outside space, review how you currently use it, and note ideas on what you would like to create or improve. This session is a good starting point and sets the foundation for future coaching sessions if desired.
I will provide a written report of the points discussed during my visit as well as some high level ideas, solutions, and next steps. This way, you have the information you need to plan and implement your project.
Analysis: aspect or sun position, soil, wind exposure, possible micro-climats, etc
Advice: on maintenance of existing plants and shrubs and practical solutions on caring for the soil, weeding, watering, tools, etc
Improve and design: Discuss how you use your garden and review what elements you would like to improve or create. These might include : creating ornamental borders, growing vegetables or fruit, areas for recreation, or outside dining. These might also include resolving problem areas such as creating privacy, hiding an ugly fence or building
Identify your style: Review styles that you like, plant types and colours, seasons of interest, etc.
In some cases you might have a very small project such as creating a flower border. If you feel that you do not need a full assessment, then the coach by the hour option can be chosen.
This consultation can also be adapted to a specific area such as growing your own food. In this case, download the food growing questionnaire.

Coaching via telephone and video conference
The goal of a coaching session is to educate and enable you to create and maintain your own garden. These coaching sessions take place on site in your garden and are developed according to your needs , desires, and skill level.
During a coaching session, I can teach you how to grow vegetables or create and maintain flowering borders. I can review your garden as a whole and help you understand how to create the different elements that you desire.
