Designing with plants

Creating your planting areas correctly and choosing the right plants is the key to success!

Each individual and their garden is unique.  I will work with you to choose plants which you love and achieve the style that you desire. I will review the practical elements of what you want to achieve such as hiding a view, creating a visual barrier, using plants to attract wildlife, or simply creating something beautiful to look at.

 It is important to evaluate the garden environment and soil, and work within your maintenance requirements and budget.

The time required to create a design varies greatly depending on the complexity of the planting plan, potential plant research, and the documentation required. 

All designs are customised to your personal requirements and include a 1,5-2 hour consultation with you in your garden.

Design fees start at 200€ for a small border.

How does it work ?

Initial contact : Call or email me with your request and we will discuss the service appropriate for you as well as an estimated costs. This is an initial conversation on the telephone or video conference . I will ask you to complete a questionnaire to help me get to know you better and prepare for our meeting. A complimentary visit may be possible for larger projects.

Appointment onsite up to 2 hours. We will discuss what you would like to achieve, your likes and dislikes. I will analyse the soil, aspect, and other conditions which might influence the types of plants to use. We will then review styles of gardens and plants for inspiration on what you would like to create. I will guide you through the steps required to achieve your desired outcome and provide a general estimation of the fees involved.

Summary and initial proposition : I will send a written summary via email of what is to be created and images of the proposed plants. We will then have a telephone or video conversation to discuss to answer any questions and make changes if desired.

Final design : The final design will be sent to you by email which includes :

  • Document on each plant with detailed information and photos

  • Steps required to achieve the project ie. soil preparation, soil amendments if needed, planting and watering instructions.

  • Estimated cost of plants

  • Where to source the plants

• Acceptance of the final design : this will be done by telephone or video call
